Patent iNSIGHT Pro is a comprehensive patent analysis platform we launched in 2006 which allows users to accelerate their processes in patent analysis and scientific literature research. Designed with advanced text mining algorithms it brings out data insights in minutes which would have otherwise taken days for researchers. Designed with inputs from leaders in patent search, Patent iNSIGHT Pro has been used extensively by a number of organisations across the intellectual property domain and been an important platform for patent analysis, insights and reporting. While the platform is a complete standalone ready to implement and use solution, we’ve often had requests from customers who have used Patent iNSIGHT Pro as one component of a much wider set of patent research and analysis tools to customise the software and have it blend seamlessly into the existing research workflow.
A great example of this would be a reference to a project we undertook to help a leading biotech company based out of India, by customising Patent iNSIGHT Pro as closely to the internal requirements of the client and resolve some challenges they had. The existing solution used by the biotech firm was expensive and many of the advanced features and functionalities required a steep learning curve for the users. The solution was not easily customisable and could not provide reports tuned to the requirements of every department. The high cost of the product along with the complexity of the processes failed to justify the ROI from the investment at the end of the subscription period which posed a challenge to the IPR team in the selection of an alternative.
Patent iNSIGHT Pro had an upper hand being equipped with powerful analysis and mapping capabilities, being easy to use for the end users cutting the learning curve. It had been developed with constant feedback from expert patent researchers and as a result, understands the workflows of the IPR teams. Most importantly for this particular company, the ability to enable quick customisation according to IPR Team’s specific workflow requirements had been met. This lead to quick integration of the software to suit research process and requirements in the existing workflow.
After understanding the IPR’s teams requirements for Patent iNSIGHT Pro, the Gridlogics software development team initiated a customisation project with a remarkably quick turnaround time.
Some of the key functions of the application developed for our Biotech client are:
a) Search integration automation
b) Precise categorization and segmentation of patents to identify key concepts and groups within large patents sets
c)Fast and efficient relationship analyser that allows for bibliometric and white paper analysis
d) Multi functional reporting capabilities
e) Dash boarding and one click generation of maps and charts from matrices.
The customised version of Patent iNSIGHT Pro for the client has drastically reduced research and analysis process time, since deployment at the client’s side. The IPR team finds the process more user friendly, it seamlessly integrates with existing functions and processes and overheads on training and integration is minimal. It’s also managed to reduce the chances of human error by the IPR Team by automating key functions that were initially done manually.
By customising Patent iNSIGHTS Pro’s powerful analysis and visualization capabilities our client was able to deploy a highly customised analytical engine that reduced work flow time consumption and justified the investment in the overall solution.
